Angela Martin: Hi. I’m Angela Martin and welcome to number 8 Fairyland Road in Kuranda. This property is perfect because of the flexibility that it offers all different kinds of family situations. If you’ve got young children, it’s an easy walk to school. If you’ve got extended family or friends who like to visit, we’ve got a one bedroom granny flat. If you have boats or heavy machinery or toys, there is plenty of space. If we add in about three acres or flat usable land, your pets are also going to fall in love with it. Let’s go in and have a look.

Welcome to this gorgeous three bedroom house with granny flat. One of the first things you’ll notice when you come in is that it’s really light and it’s really bright. It’s airy, plenty of space. If we can just do a little bit of orientation, when we came in the front door, we have got a really big hallway. We’ve got a three bedrooms with a master and with an ensuite and a main bathroom up this side.
Here, we have a brand new living area with kitchen. When I say brand new, I mean brand new, it is literally only months old. You can move in and actually do nothing, but the whole property is about lifestyle and it’s about flexible living. Love the drawers, absolutely brilliant, and, of course, little wine rack, plenty of space for preparing all those wonderful meals. Before we go outside, we’re going to have a look through the bedrooms up the hallway. Don’t forget, we have got a massive laundry too. Let’s go and have a look.

This is brilliant. Under cover area for the whole family, dining, we’ve got a work shed area over here. I think it’s about a whopping 120, give or take, square meters where you can live outside during the wet season or even in the winter if you want, you put a little fire there. Off to the side, we have got a swimming pool, beautiful. This is our self-contained granny flat.
Actually, we can’t really see it at the moment, we will have a look, over the other side of the property, it used to be a nursery. There’s lots and lots and lots of things to do and see over that part. In the meantime, let’s have a look at this swimming pool. You can just imagine a really hot day, you come out there, you’ve had your barby, you’ve got your family and your friends and you just want to jump into this pool. How beautiful is that? I bet it’s a little bit chilly. We got a little bit of cloud today. Just glorious, brilliant for those tropical hot summer days. You are just going to fall in love with this pool.

As if you need to know what you can do with the space out here, I just noticed that great punching bag. This Granny Flat, self contained, has a garage up the other side and, of course, it’s got its own entrance as well, but you can see it’s plenty and big, it’s spacious. We’ve got a little kitchen just behind us, and a really big bedroom ensuite and built-in robes. The two doors that we see on the other side, actually take us out. We’ll go round on the outside, but it takes us through unto plenty of storage or a garage that takes us out into the front street. Perfect.

You might never have people leave you alone again with that lovely little granny flat in there. I know we’ve go on about these things, but what could you use this space for? At the moment, it’s a great big workshed. We’re actually going to go down into the workers part of the garden, if you like, that has been functional for many, many years. You could have this with walls on it, plants in it, lattice in it, pave it, deck it, and it really would be an extraordinary piece, as I said before, of outdoor living space.
Now, if you have a green thumb, part of the original nursery is still here. This is about 20 meters long and probably about, I don’t know, seven or eight meters wide. Still perfectly usable if you have a green thumb and, again, or you could use it for storage, whatever you would like it to be. We got to head out the back, if you’ve got machinery or toys, you can look at all the endless possibilities.
If you have bulldozers or big bits of machinery or you just want space, this is about half an acre, over 2,000 square meters. Now, as I’ve said, it used to be a nursery. We have still got remnants of a weed mat, but you’ll notice blue metal. It’s called hardstand ground and it just means that the ground has been reinforced, if you like, so that you’re not going to get bogged in the wet season. As I said, there’s about half an acre of this all over. All you’ve got to do is pull up the weed mat or put down more weed mat if you wanted to use it for a commercial nursery.
The other thing you’ll notice as well is that we have all these metal poles around that used to be part of the shade house area. These can be removed if you don’t want them. The current owners kept them there just for, again, that little bit of extra flexibility. This is just waiting for you to come and have a play.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of number 8 Fairyland Road in Kuranda. If you can bear with me, I’m just going to do a little bit of a recap because there’s a lot to take in. Three acres of flat, usable land is completely brilliant because often you’ll find land that’s on a hill or on a gully, but this is all completely usable. It also has, we mentioned pets at the beginning, it also has electric wire for those who have dogs who wear electric dog collars for example. That, again, is great for pet-friendly families.
Gardens, absolutely gorgeous. We’ve got two accommodations; one bedroom granny flat and the really lovely main house, which if you’re looking for low maintenance is brilliant. Insulation, brilliant. It’s actually double-brick, we didn’t mention that in the beginning. We’ve got the external brick, and we have block that is rendered on the inside. Again, all concrete. Definitely a best friend in the tropics.
We’ve got two entrances. We have got about a half of an acre of flat, usable hardstand ground for heavy machinery. Brilliant swimming pool and the 100 and odd, 120 square meters of usable undercover living. The location, no through road, close to school and 25 minutes to Cairns Airport. What is not to love?
