Angela Martin: Hi. I’m Angela Martin. Welcome to 47 Palmerston Street in Aeroglen. This property is all about quality, lifestyle, and location. You will know, if you have been looking to buy in this super-duper popular area, that quality houses like this or any house for that matter, very rarely come up for sale.
What makes it even extra special is that it actually has some history. This property, this house, was one of the very few original cane-cutter cottages; plus, it’s the first time in 14 years that it has come to market, on offer to sell to one very lucky buyer. Let’s just take a little bit of time, I’m going to take you around the gardens, have a look inside the house, you’re going to fall in love with this property.

As tempting as it is, before we go up into the main house, which as I said we were going to do, is to spend time on the ground level because there is just so much lovely open entertainment.
Now, when you come into a house, there’s normally the tradesman’s entrance, which is the entrance that everyone uses, and that is obviously where we have the carport and the stairs which lead up into the kitchen; but today, we are going to go up the formal entrance, which will take up into the main living area. Let’s go up and go straight into the house.

Come on in. As I mentioned, we’ve come up the main entrance. I just want to do a little bit of orientation. We are in a fabulous, fabulous because character-filled Queenslander. One of the first things that you’ll notice, actually, is when we were downstairs, I got super excited because we have an entertaining area that we will go down and explore. Up here, it is super light. We have got mega, mega high ceilings. This is the main living area; beautiful, beautiful, and I mean beautiful wooden floors.
When we came in, we’ve got a little entrance hall. We’ve got a bedroom off to the side. We’ve got the master bedroom there with a hallway, and it that has the main bathroom, it has a toilet, it has a great, big cupboard, which we’ll look at; and another bedroom over in that corner.
Of course, the heart of any house is the kitchen. This down here takes us down back to the carport. This is our, what we call, tradesman’s entrance. It’s a beautiful, beautiful feel. It’s organic, tactile, it’s Queensland maple; so again, it’s nice and bright, but it gives it that nice warmth. For chefs in the family, we have gas cooking and electric oven, plenty of pantry space, plenty of room for a big double fridge, and lots, and lots, and lots of natural light.
Before we go into the hallway and explore there, just have another quick look at that bedroom as we came in the entrance hall. I’ll meet you around here.

Before we head through, I had to show you this. How fabulous is that? Again, all in the luxury little space with gorgeous natural light.

Come into the master bedroom. Hopefully, you again are getting a sense of just how it’s real cottagey, its charm, it is just a real feeling of relaxation. Each of the bedrooms have air conditioning units. They’re in the windows but they work, nevertheless. Again, I’m going to go on about this, lots, and lots, and lots of natural light, and plenty of storage, and again, gorgeous wooden floors.
Let’s walk through the hallway. This is the main bathroom; big, lovely, again and bright. One of the things that I mentioned about it being the original cane-cutters cottage, this would have been the original part, and the extension over the time is on that side there.
I’ll get you to come around this side, so that I can show you. We’ve got master, main bathroom, and the toilet. Now, because it’s got one bathroom, one of the ideas — I think will be great — is that you could actually put a door here, that could be your ensuite. Then we have got a fabulous, great, big cupboard in here, and you got all your water services.
It would be super easy to make this, even though it’s a great, big utility cupboard into possibly what would be the main bathroom. This again, is another gorgeous, little bedroom, a little mozzie net, and the character filled — well, we’ve got screens, which is great, and a character-filled windows. We’re going to go back through the kitchen, and we’re going to go back down those stairs and explore under the house.

I’m fascinated with that lovely, little light. It’s really gorgeous. Now, before we head downstairs, I just wanted to quickly talk a little bit about privacy, because when you live in an area where there are houses close by, privacy is a really, really big deal. The house to the side is a low set, so it’s not looking in. The property at the back is all beautifully screened. This side, you can actually, believe it or not, leave your bathroom windows open, because their living area is out over there and, of course, you have no one at the front.
It is completely fenced, so it’s brilliant for if you have children or if you have animals, and it really does just make you feel like you’re in your own little oasis, so excitement plus. Let’s go down into the garden and explore under the house.

You’ll see the gardens are so low-maintenance and really quite beautiful; gorgeously mulched, tropical plants, there’s also a little fruit tree just at the bottom of the stairs here. Again, you just get that sense of just an oasis, it’s private, and there is plenty of room for a swimming pool.
Under the house, one of the things about a high set Queenslander, of course, is that you have all this flat usable space. If this was a brick house or a block house, you really would feel as if you were either in your house or you were in your garden. Here, we’ve got open, completely open-plan lifestyle. Now, open area for bikes.
This is brilliant. This is actually all concrete, so it would actually make a really good cyclone bunker, but it is an outdoor shower. If you’ve been in the garden, or you’ve got little pets or little children who get muddy, that is the place to go before you head upstairs, because upstairs as you know was gorgeous.
We have very, very functional laundry, just in here. Every man cave is messy, every man cave has got projects galore, every man cave has lots of tools, and you can see that this is just going to be perfect for the man or the lady of the family.
This is the “pièce de résistance”, the outdoor lifestyle entertaining area. It is cool, it’s calm, we’ve got this gorgeous lipstick palms; and again, we’ve got that feeling of being out. We’re on 610 square meters. If you’re entertaining — I’m going to have a seat — if you’re entertaining, this would be absolutely an amazing place to do it.
There’s a dart board underneath. If you’re upstairs, ladies having a glass of wine, chatting, chatting, chatting, and the men could be down here doing the Barbie, or playing darts, or having a beer. Then, of course, you have got, again, this really cool, breezy, luxury entertainment area looking out into really glorious gardens. What is not to love?

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of 47 Palmerston Street in Aeroglen. If you can just bear with me, I’m just going to do a little bit of a recap. I had to come back and sit in this position because this daybed is just so relaxing. I have to say, the whole entertainment area under the house is just, it’s almost zen-like. It really is just a beautiful, beautiful, cool, breezy place to be.
If you are entertaining, as we mentioned, you got plenty of space upstairs to do dinner prep, or even more space down here with your Barbie area just behind your dining area there. It’s on 610 square meters, and you really do feel as if it is part, or you are a part of the garden. It’s very, very open. Very gorgeous, indeed. Of course, yes, as we said at the beginning, low maintenance gardens.
The location is absolutely brilliant. We have closeness to hospitals, airport, boat ramp, we’re a stone’s throw to Stratford village, where there’s a pub, restaurants, shops, and you can also jump on your bike, you’ll have noticed a couple of bicycles before, underneath, and you can cycle into Cairns, you can cycle up to Redcliff. On a lazy Sunday morning, you can actually walk to trendy Edge Hill via magnificent Botanic Gardens for that Sunday brekkie or latte.
Life just does not get any better than this, so please, give me a call. Angela Martin, 0403-788-187, or visit website angelamartin.tv. I am so looking forward to showing you your new home.
