Angela Martin: Hi. I’m Angela Martin and welcome to 271 Oak Forest Road in Kuranda. It’s increasingly difficult to afford property pretty much anywhere in Australia, and the availability of affordable land that is pretty much ready to build is becoming harder and harder to find. The opportunity to buy eight magnificent acres and I mean, jaw-droppingly, stunning, magnificent acres, is surely a dream come true. Plus up this road here, access road, it is one of only five residential acreage properties in this whole rainforest estate. We’re going to jump in the car and we are gonna drive up and see what it’s like, feel like, to come home to your new property. Let’s jump in the car and go.
The Oak Forest Road is behind us, and this is where we just looked before. This is the access road up to the five individual properties. Now, this might go bing, if I don’t have my seatbelt on. I just wanted us to feel literally wall what it would be like to come home because we look at pictures, we just see pictures of trees and it’s not necessarily in context. Coming through that gate, driving up this road that services the five individual residential properties, is genuinely breathtaking. If we can just stop here, and have a look at what is literally the entrance to where the five lots begin. It is like something out of a magical fairy tale. I know that sounds maybe a little bit daft, but it is breathtaking.
It is unbelievably breathtaking, and the temperature, I can guarantee, will drop as we get into the trees. If we have a look, as we come up on the right-hand side, this is pretty much the start of lot two, which is your neighbor. We’ve got a main power box just there that services the five lots. One of the key things is that, I don’t know if you noticed, but on Oak Forest Road, we had overhead power. When you come into this genuinely exclusive estate, all the power is underground, so it runs under the road, and when we actually get to Lot three, your new home, we’ll actually get a look at the quality of the road. That is my seatbelt. I’m just going to pop this on so it doesn’t bing.
Maybe yours is binging. [chuckles] As we come up here, the road is a asphalt road. It’s quality of, literally, highway and then if we look off here to the left, we’re pinging. This is Lot one. Again, it’s another little residential lot in there. This, I just have to drive slowly because it’ll give you a sense of just how far away from the basically Oak Forest Road is. We’re right up into this magic and I mean, magic, enclave. Just look up at those trees. Just stunning. We can see here on the little tree, this is the start of lot two or this is number two. This is where the house is, on lot two. Massive, massive acreage property there.
Then this with this little green power box, you can see a little power box here, is the start of your new home, and we run about 75 meters from here right up the road frontage, and we have got the lion’s share of the land on this side of the road. We’re gonna go up and we’re going to park. Then we’ll come back down this section because if you just turn your little head over here, this is about three-quarters of an acre that has a shipping container on it. That too is part of the 8.3 acres, so huge, huge, huge flexibility. Down here is just a little place where you can park your car, a little entrance, but there, and hopefully, you can notice how sparkly, sparkly this is.
We’re just going to park up on the left, and then off to the right is where you would probably build your dream home. Let’s just park up here and then we will get out of the car and absolutely marvel at what we’re just boat to see. Wow. Stunning silence with the exception of the birds. You can almost hear the butterfly wings just now. It’s too quiet for that. This is sensational. It actually makes– I don’t know if you can see that. It’s a warm day, and the instant energy, it’s actually quite breathtaking. Rainforest land like this, it doesn’t come along very often. We are going to have a bit of a wander orientation for the lot. The block is pretty much from here, right down to where the green electric box is 75 meters.
Sydney, Melbourne, that’s part of a highway, 75 meters let alone owning a block that wide. It’s sort of rectangular with about another 400, you heard correctly, about 400 meters in that direction. We’re just gonna go for a wander. Maybe if we come along this side, so we can have a look over here. The thing with rainforest land is that a lot of people think, “Oh, it can be dark. It can be dingy. We’re not going to get too much sun.” It is about quarter to 11 in the morning, and 26 degrees winter day. Life just does not get much better than this. You could imagine waking up, as I said, is peaceful, it’s quiet, and of course, we have just got, I’m going to go on about this.
Just the magnificence, absolute magnificence. The road quality of road literally is like a highway. It’s not concrete. It’s not that crusher dust. It is heavy-duty mainstream, highway-grade road. You’re probably saying, “Well, why is that really important, Angela?” Well, it is, because it’s not gonna wash away and of course you’ve got your underground power and services. This was way down there where the little box was, and then we can came up. The shipping container’s on that side, which we’ll have a look at. Then this was the sort of second driveway. Mains power box. I won’t worry about opening it so you can have a look, but it’s– Or I will because if you can’t get here, these things are important.
A perfectly normal Ergon power box. This was our little first driveway that we came to when we came in, and then we came up here, we parked over there. This would be then the entrance into what is currently a shed. You could sleep glamping in this shed, and it is just ready. It is ready to build. I wanted us to have a look because, from this angle, I don’t know if you have got any idea how much it would cost to actually build these phenomenal organic rock walls. Not cheap is the answer.
They just blend and they just sculpt a bit of the land. They go all the way along here. We’ll have a little bit of a look at that in a minute, but this is magic. Let’s go and explore what the endless possibilities would be. This is just tarp, it’s all lino now, so you’re not walking in dirt. Again, I don’t know if you can see, but we’ve actually got road base underneath that. It’s not squishy, it’s not squashy, but it just makes it easy to blow all the leaves off. Then we have an insulated shed. Mains power, we’ve got instant gas hot water, we have a bore where the quality of the bore is almost bottleable. It’s beautiful crystal clear water. This is insulated.
Imagine either having it as a studio, building your magnificent home here. Just take a minute. Just look at this, just look at this. You’ve got to pull a home facing into the rainforest and this literally becomes, like I said, maybe a little larger studio, or whilst you’re building, this is your little glamping site. You can hear it, it’s echoing because there’s nothing in it, but it is insulated and it is incredibly cool.
Actually, I wish I had a thermometer because you would definitely the change in the temperature. It’s clean, it’s all sealed, it’s got power, a fan. We’ve also got a stove just in case you wanted to not bring along your barbecue and actually cook in as normal. We have got a washing machine, a Fisher & Paykel washing machine, which actually looks pretty brand spanking new to me. This is magic.
This is like something out of, oh, I don’t know just some Balinese majesticness and it is a metal claw bath. Indulge me for dreaming but we are sitting in here, put your plug in, we’ve got hot water, we’ve got bubbles, we have got the moon or the stars or the sun coming up in the morning, and we are just in heaven, literally.
It is beyond thinking about how magical that would actually be. Of course, we’ve got a brilliant little sink, fabulous little Besser blocks. You could imagine even being out here, even if it was a weekend.
I personally want to build on it. If you had a big tarp, you could be sitting under here, people pay scullions of dollars for wooden decks. You’ve already got something here that could be concreted, or you could put on a floating floor or pave it, great big tarp all the way over, and you’ve got outdoor undercover living in the wet tropics, just magic. Just breathe it in, just have a look at that panorama, and then we’re going to head over, and have a look at that little shipping container section.
[music]
We are heading over to the other side, I promise, but before I forget, we actually have a drop loo, which is a genuine drop loo just down over there. Again, a loo with a view in the rainforest. These rocks, as I mentioned, just form this beautiful natural pad that is just sensational. Now, I’m just going to stop again for like 10 seconds just so you can hear how quiet it is. Hopefully, you can hear the birds. It’s like I said, little hairs in the back of your arm and your neck go up. We’re just going to head back along here. Again, just remember we are 400 meters in that direction. There is a creek that runs along the back of the property.
It’s called Dismal Creek, and I haven’t seen them, but the residents tell me that there are platypus, they have also seen tree kangaroo, and of course, you can just imagine all the other native species that you’re going to find in this part of the world. Always remember David Attenborough when he was being interviewed, asked what was one of his most favorite parts of the whole wide world. It was tropical Far North Queensland for the diversity of the species, and the interest, and of course, the magnificent rainforest which is your new home.
Let’s have a wander through here. This is just glorious. I can’t help, but looking up, so if I fall over, [chuckles] you will forgive me because it’s the canopy, it sparkles, it really does sparkle. The access road really does just make the edge of the property so that we’ve got that other little separate private spot just over there, but the lion’s share, probably seven and a half acres, is on the side as I said. You can do the maths on it, but 75 meters by about 400, that’s nearly half a kilometer into the rainforest, unheard of. Then of course, where we’ve got a car, we’ve got a spot there that you can put fruit trees, veggie patch, veggie garden.
Again, these are things that are not normally associated with rainforest. This is still your property by the way, just so that we get a sense of the walking, and how long it actually might take to get 75 meters close to 75 meters. We’ll just do a little spin around here, so as a reminder, that’s the drop loo at the end. You could have a big carport in there. Again, you could have a little studio, or any associated housing, dwelling, granny flat. On this side, obviously subject to council approval, but it just lends itself to split families, older, younger, brother and sister. It’s endless.
This side, again, we’ve got a 75 meters, clearly, we’ve got a rectangle 75 meters, but on this side, we’ve got about 40 meters. So we’ve got 400 that side, and we’ve got about 40 this side. I think that’s about three-quarters of an acre, maybe. I did a little maths in my head. This is just joyous. This is seriously joyous. Let’s just take a look up at the canopy, and you have, again, got natural sunlight. We have sparkle morning, afternoon, during the day and you don’t feel hemmed in. I do keep going on about it, but it is, let’s use the word majestical because that is how it inspires, and how it feels.
The shipping container, that stays, if you don’t want it, it doesn’t have to stay, but anyone who has got acreage property would just love the option to be able to store things or use it as a work shed. Perfectly serviceable. Of course, this was at the beginning in the property, so there’s all the options for being able to walk through and do little treks up and through there. Then we’ve got all this land down here too. Again, we’ve got a 40 meters, so it is endless possibilities, and of course, flexibility for joint living. Just, again, just take a minute and just have a look and marvel up at the canopy, and then we’ll take another quick look-up at the shed.
[music]
Isn’t this just truly, truly awesome? Absolutely awesome. You sort of find yourself whispering so that it doesn’t upset the little baby wildlife. I know that’s silly, but your heart rate goes down, your breathing just slows, and you really just want to stop and smell and be, and that is just the most incredible feeling in the whole wide world. I wanted to just have another quick look here too because we parked the car. We know that’s pretty much at the top part, if you like, of a whooping 75-meter frontage. Let’s just wander over here.
Again, so you can get a sense of how many little spots, special posies if you like, that you could do things with. Like I said you could grow your veggies, you could put your fruit trees, you could put your little granny flat, you could build your main house. The sky is the limit actually. We’ve obviously had little things growing here. Pineapples, we’ve obviously got some pineapples in here but they’re just heads down a little bit of a slope over there. This is grass, you could have your little trumble mower if you love cutting grass, but you’re not a slave to it. We’ve got the spot next to the shipping container, and of course, this beautiful bit just here. We’re going to head over to the shed and we’re going to do a very quick wrap-up.
[music]
I wish I knew what kind of tree this is. I should be shot because I should know, but I don’t. I just want to let you see how big that is. That’s just gorgeous, absolutely glorious. Unbelievable. Angela, stop it. With a new very quick wrap-up, now, why would you buy this property? I think if you didn’t, you’d be absolutely mad. Of course, you want to be looking for land, of course, you want to have rainforest, but the potential and the absolute genuine, and I’m going to use the word which is not a word, but the majesticness of this is jaw-dropping.
I used that word at the beginning because it’s really hard to get a feel for what it’s like to stand here in amongst the silence of the birds, yet you’ve got all the madness of the world as we all know it, and you can come here, and you can just rejuvenate your soul. You can use it as a glamping exercise, or you could build your magnificent home, or you could have a very simple lifestyle, upsizing, downsizing. It’s all there, and of course, it’s unashamedly all about the rainforest. We’ve got underground power, we have beautiful crystal clear bore water, drinkable.
Almost you can sell it in a bottle, it’s so lovely. We’ve got a washing machine, and of course, we’ve got a little cooktop, a little cooker in there. They’re having a shower, Balinese, tropical shower, or sitting in that bath that is a claw metal bath with all the history that, of course, would go with it, is just mind-boggling. Then, again, super extension flexibility on that other three-quarter of your own driveway. It is priceless, and I’m not often lost for words, but you have to be here, and you really have to get a sense, and you have to feel it.
We’re also within walking distance to Steiner School. We have beautiful rainforest land, fabulous location and we are so close to Bunnings, Woolies, Coles, anything that you would ever need, but you’d never know it. Give me a call. Angela Martin, 0403788187. Visit the website, angelamartin.tv, and I seriously look forward to being able to share this magnificent property with you as your new dream home.
