Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin. Welcome to Number 20b Greenhills Road in Kuranda. If you are absolutely thriving a lifestyle and a location, space and privacy, something that is uniquely different, this is for you. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing rock walls. They run all the way along the front of the property. But the key here is that we have two houses. Two very separate self-contained houses and 1.8 beautiful tropical acres. You’re just going to fall in love with this property. Let’s go in and have a look.
The first thing you’ll have noticed when we came up the driveway is that it’s sealed. It’s all bitumen, but we’re not even at the house yet, and already you can get the sense of how tropical an oasis this actually is, including some absolute amazingly fantastic beautiful orchids. But we’ll talk a bit more about that in a minute.
Orientation. We have the main house just off to the side here. That’s a four bedroom and a three bathroom house. Fantastic, great big entertaining area out in the back. It is a block house. Off to this side, through a breeze way, we have another self-contained house. It actually used to be the rainforest chalet in Kuranda. Huge great big kitchen. It’s a one bedroom. But let’s go up to the main house and have a look.
Come on in. This is the main house and the main living area on the inside. You’ll notice we have got an absolutely huge wood burning stove. Actually both of the properties have got wood burning stoves. Fantastic for those lovely chilly Kuranda nights, but we are in the wet tropics, and at the moment, we’re about 35 degrees. So we’ll probably not going to be using that anytime soon.
The kitchen is brilliant. It’s big. It integrates with the inside of the house. We’ll go outside in a minute, because that is just 200 square meters almost under roof. Behind this, we’ve got the master bedroom with ensuite. Then going to this side, we’ve got another three bedrooms, a bathroom and a laundry, and the butler’s kitchen through there too. All those extra little bits when you’re entertaining. Let’s start off and have a look in the master ensuite.
Welcome to the ensuite. This is beautiful. Just adds to that lovely organic look and feel of the place. This ensuite master is huge. Come on through. We have got a separate toilet. We have got plenty of walking and breathing space. We have got a really large double shower. Let’s have a quick look in here. No doors. No windows. No anything to actually stop you feeling like you’re nice and free in the morning. That is really a luxury, luxury space. Again, with all fully tiled.
This is the main area through here. We have the walk-in wardrobe here and another really big sleeping space. You’ll notice all the lovely great open windows. They all open out onto the patio that runs all the way around the house. This is a about a 90, 100 square meters, so you really do have that luxury feeling space. You’re just going fall in love with this whole luxury, yummy feel of a bedroom.
Isn’t this a fantastic big living space? We just come out of the master, and as you can see this really is central living, again, on the inside. You can’t be so excited. You have to wait one minute before we can go on the outside. This side of the house, we’ve got another three bedrooms. Come this way. We have a main bathroom in here. We have bedrooms one and two. This bedroom in the corner actually has another bathroom associated with it. You have got plenty of room for all your family and friends and guests.
Hopefully, you’ll have noticed, even though it’s a block house, concrete floor, tiled floor, we have got beautiful wooden doors. We’ve got beautiful wooden windows. It really does just help add that lovely– again, I keep using the word, unique, organic, comfy, and cozy feel to this house. But this is amazing. It feels like another house. It’s so big. As you can see, the current owner is actually a revered orchid grower. That’s why you’re seeing orchids everywhere. But it does actually give you an idea as to how flexible this property could be.
We’ve got room enough for a billiard table. I’m not very good at playing the game. But I hear it’s very relaxing and you’ve got room here for 10, 20, 30 people easily. We have got this most amazing structure full of steel, and enough light panels in there so that you are shielded from the sun, but you just have that gorgeous lovely bright sunshine coming through. It’s really beautiful. This is amazing. We are going to look at these rock walls in just a little bit more detail in a minute.
In the meantime, we’re going to go downstairs. We’re going through the breeze way because that’s what connects the two houses. We’re going to have a sneaky peek inside the other house. Let’s go. Watch your feet. Again, we have orchids. Beautiful orchids and a fantastic, just a joining breezeway. It makes everything feel absolutely huge, light, bright, and breezy. Let’s go through this way and have a look at the house.
You can see the size and the space of the second house. It really is a big house. It does have one bedroom, but it feels way bigger than that. When we go in, you’ll see we’ve actually got vaulted ceilings or cathedral ceilings. So again, we’ve got that sense of height. Fantastic lifestyle living deck. There used to be a spa over there, but again, the revered orchid grower has put some quinkan in there for his plants. I don’t know if it works or not. But it’s probably worth resurrecting because it will be fantastic, sitting the spa only out in the deck.
We’ve got an outdoor burning stove. We’ve also got on the inside, as I said, a wood log burning stove too. Come on through. One of the things that you will notice is the fact that they’ve got gorgeous terracotta tiles on the floor. I mentioned about the cathedral ceilings. But the size and the space in this kitchen is huge. Beautiful wooden bench tops and drawers. We’ve got plenty of cupboard space over here. There really is enough space in here that’s probably even bigger than a regular gourmet style kitchen.
We’ve got a central living area here, and then off to the side, we’ve got a bedroom and another bathroom. You’re just going to love the open cottagey feel and the flexibility that it could give you if you either want to have family and friends here, or use it as some form of commercial- obviously, subject to council approval- business. Go ahead and sneak a peek.

Come on then into the garden. This really does set this property apart. I mentioned that it’s on about 1.8 acres, and it really is like the botanic gardens. In a botanic garden, there is lush and it is tropical, and it is well-maintained and beautifully looked after. This is just an example. An orchid- tiger orchid. It’s actually one of its kind, one of the largest in the world, and it’s an Asian orchid.
Just look at the flowers on that. It’s absolutely beautiful and the garden’s filled with glorious gems, rock work, heliconias, gingers, palms. It’s just to die for. So let’s go have a bit of wander around the garden and just take a look at some of those things.

You just will never have seen the uniqueness that this property has anywhere else, and that is what makes it really unique. These are unbelievably fabulous. There’s orchids and all sorts of little treasures growing all the way through them, along the front wall at the front of the property as we’ve seen when we came in. Just the structure, it is quite breathtaking actually, and anyone who lives here, anyone who owns this property is going to find hidden gems all over the garden, and you’ll never tire of– Look at this, it’s absolutely stunning.
Anyway, I’ll stop gabbing on about that. This really is just too beautiful for words. We have a tree house. Let’s go down to the back of the rainforest and have a look. Let’s come down into the rainforest. I mentioned a tree house. All the structure is there, all it needs is just the walls. All the foundations are there, all the floors are there, all the roof is there, and it really is up in the trees. So you could just spend, I don’t know, how many hours of everyday bird watching, looking for Ulysses butterflies. The kids could be up there. Your friends and your family could just set up there as a relaxation. You could live up there. You could do whatever you want to.
But there is just one thing that you should know, this feels magical. Beautiful heliconias and the list just goes on and on. At the beginning, we’ve seen that it was two gates, it was a gorgeous, big circular gate to one side of the property, we came in the other end. Just as you come through the gate, we have got huge amounts of shed space, work storage space, car space. You really could use it for whatever you want it.
But at the very end of those sheds, there is a room that has started to become a little central self-contained studio. It’s not finished, but you can see that we’ve got the wooden doors already in place and there’s some decking that’s in progress at the back too. That will be a fantastic project if you did actually need more space. Let’s go over and have a look.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this sensational- and I mean sensational property. It really has so much to offer. When you come in you have that sense of relaxation and really the fact that you have come into a botanical garden. I don’t know if you can hear in the background, but there’s bird song. It is so remotely quiet, it’s very peaceful.
Of course, we’ve got about 200 square meters of outdoor entertaining. You’ve got two houses, you’ve got high ceilings and you’ve got big balconies and you’ve got big overhangs and you’ve got big high ceilings, 1.8 acres of gorgeous– and I know I’m going about it, but I make no apologies because this really stunning, stunning property.
We’re at the end of a no through road. We can walk to Kuranda village, and you just wouldn’t know it. We really are in the Dress Circle location. The second house was used as the Kuranda rainforest chalet, so again it’s an opportunity there if you wanted to do something potentially commercial or just have and enjoy all this lovely space that this property gives you.
