Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin, and welcome to Number 19, Morton street in Kuranda. Super-duper excited on this beautiful, sparkly blue autumn day to share and show you this fabulous little property. It has got so much potential and it’s quite simply phenomenal value for money. The other thing is, it’s been lovingly looked after and maintained by the very same people who built it. That means it has only ever had one owner and you are super relaxed, easy stroll, five-minute walk into Kuranda village for that morning coffee. Let’s go in and have a look. Super excitement plus, but before we do, please make sure that you press that little subscribe button and the notification bell. Let’s go in. You’re going to fall in love.

Welcome home. Now, this has got to be one of the most cutest, blank canvassy properties that you will come across in today’s market. As I’ve just mentioned, it’s only ever had one owner so it has been really, really, really well looked after. You literally could just move in if you want to, but look at the space that we’ve got. It’s really deceiving from Morton Street, which we’ve got a big fence along the front, but this is a big room, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Even that little space there that you’d probably put your telly in, your sofa, you’d probably put your dining area over here because fabulous sunny balcony, just like at the back. The kitchen is a good size, original as you would expect, the bathroom is original as you would expect, but who cares?
It’s brilliant, and we have got this magic. Look at this magic little peak-through servery so that you’re cooking and you’re chopping and you’ve got your family or your friends, or you’re just indulging yourself. We can actually easily get the food out through there. It’s been a great little barbie area and of course, it’s got fly screens that we will see from the other side. It’s got an electric cooktop, electric oven, plenty of space.
Have a little look in here. We’ve got plenty of pantry space, and we’ve got drawers under the sink, so you’re not going to be short on cupboard space. The other thing you will notice too is big cupboard here, so that would maybe be a laundry cupboard. You put your linen in there or just anything else that you want. Feel it, it’s bright. It’s got a lot of natural light and it’s all louvered. As we stand here, we’re looking out to the garden, front door, we’re looking out to the garden. Whilst we’re only a couple of minutes to Kuranda village, you really feel it’s a quarter acre. You really feel as if you are in your own little oasis. I’d like you just to breathe this in and we’re going to have a quick look at those bedrooms.

Isn’t that a fabulous space? I’m just so excited about us having to look at that balcony, but we’re going to have to wait another little minute. The bedrooms are a really good size. We’ll start off with this one here. Again, you’re going to look at this and say, “Well, it’s a good size.” I’ve said that three times, because from the outside, you would not expect to have such a spacious feel and of course, we’ve got built-in robes.
We’ve got garden views, brilliant louvres, again garden views, and the whole house has got fly screens. Again, a huge benefit in the tropics. The other thing, again little attention to detail is if we have a look at this, you’ll see that the glass is tinted, so you’ve got that for privacy. Not that you need it because we’ve got plenty of plants and plenty of fence, but it’s there nevertheless, so it’s going to help keep the place cool, got a fan, so that will help too.
Then we’ve got this other– I love this red light. It’s almost like a little boudoir feel, relaxing in the way tropics but again, the same scenario. You’ve got a garden view and this bedroom also goes out onto the balcony, but we’ll see that when we come around the other side. Again, plenty of storage. Now, the mixed rainforest, hardwood floor. What that means is it’s got silky oak, it’s got exotic timbers. It’s probably got bits of rain tree, teak, it’s got wood that you can’t even get anymore and it gives that a fabulous warmth. I know that we’re looking at that under a red light. We’re looking at it again when we go into the living area, but that is special and it’s absolutely magic.
Then we’ve got supersized– Oh, just have a look at this too. You get up in the morning and this is, “Oh, this is what you’re coming into.” It’s your own little paradise. Look at the floor, it’s brilliant. The bathroom is original. It doubles as a bathroom and a laundry. You can put plenty of space here. We’ve got a plug that comes through, so you can put it in your washtub, we’ve got the little connectors here. You put your washing machine in there, but as I said, in the beginning, it’s got so much potential so you could configure it any way you want it.
Yes, it’s original, yes, you might want to renovate it, but it’s a really big bathroom and it works and you don’t have those shower screens that everyone does not love. Then, of course, you’ve got a little mirror there, just for checking your lippy. Then that little door here that’s creaking on your way out. It’s just a super easy sliding door. Again, it’s not taking up space when you open and close a door.
No, I didn’t forget to show you here. It’s also got another really big cupboard, plenty of space. Then we’ve got a separate toilet, big high ceilings. Let me pop the light on for us. Big high ceilings again, natural light. Got a great little utility there. It’s got everything that you would need. If you were an investor, if you were a young couple, if you were on your own and you just wanted some space and closeness to the village, it’s just, I love it.
We are going to head out. Drum roll. Look at this, look at this balcony. This was the little servery area, magic it’s got, I love this. I love these little things. Again, we’ve got fly screens, if that window’s open. We’ve got the brilliant little wooden doors, lots of character. Again, we’ve got the fly screens, so that if you’re in there for an evening and you just don’t want to get a moth or a beast there, flies in, then you just have them out, but you can still see into the garden.
This again is a spacious balcony. Let’s have a little look here. We would be roughly 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, so it’s about 10 meters, probably a bit there, a bit about nine meters that is absolutely usable. Of course, this was the door that was going in to the bedroom and again, it’s got fly screens. We love it. We mentioned about it being a steel-framed. Maybe we didn’t share that it was a steel-framed house.
When we talk about maintenance in Kuranda, we love the fact that that there’s not necessarily a lot of wood because you don’t have to paint it, you don’t have to look after it. Looks gorgeous, but you can always paint them brown if you want to. It just means that you can live here and not worry about being a slave to the house. The maintenance is really, really, really important. That’s also some metally aluminum. Again, it’s not wood, not to worry about painting it.
We have a glorious, sunny, quarter acre of garden type. The trees are up. You’d probably have a field day pruning, replanting, putting in some veggies, putting in some fruit trees, because a quarter acre is a lot of land. It really is, it’s a blank canvas. Look out here. You got palm trees, your cordylines, just magic. We’re going to head downstairs and we’re just going to have a little bit of an explore.
[music]
You got these beautiful, flowering trees. It’s all just too exciting. We’re going to have a wander in the garden. That was just a little bit of a sneak peek. Under the house, it’s not that exciting. If you’re not here and you want to buy it without actually being able to jump on an airplane, you can see that we have– I’m not a big person but you can certainly still get in under here. We’ve got the hot water service just to the side.
Again, we’ve got metal, solid construction. Look at this metal, metal. Plenty of space. You could put a little bit of deck under there or again, little storage or your garden and stuff. This is super exciting. I love the garden. You know that I love the garden. There are probably so many beautiful trees and plants and palm trees in this garden. As I said, it’s a little bit overgrown, but if you just want a low-maintenance lifestyle, you can just chop away a couple of little bits or you can put it all back to nature. You can let all the trees grow. We still have, we can see, open sunny grass area.
The balcony, it gets lots of natural light. Again, if you were to trim some of the trees, you’d probably get way more light but you then need the shade if it’s hot and it’s wet. Look at this, fabulous vines, just great. Look at the colors on these, just beautiful. Then this seems to go for forever. I keep mentioning the fact that it’s a one-acre , not a one acre, a quarter-acre property which is unheard of slap bang in the middle of pretty much any village. You still feel as if you are in your own little bit of paradise. Now, there’s a little whence upon down here and it’s an old garden shed.
It actually looks like it has power or has had power, so it may or may not work. I don’t know. The facility is clearly there, if you want to resurrect it. Look at this. This could be a chicken pen. We’ve got some debris on the roof, lots of little palm fronds. It goes in here. It’s on a bit of a concrete slab. You just get in there, give a bit of a clean. Again, you get all that gorgeous light in. That could be where you keep your little trowels and your little choppy things. You probably will not need a ride-on mower. We’ve got plenty of space here.
We’ll come back up here and we’ll go around the side. It’s gorgeous. Look at this, look at this. Then just take a minute just to have a lookup here, again, at the space that we actually have. It’s brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Then we’ve been in there and we’ve had a little look under here. Then actually, if we just run our eyes back under here, this was where at the beginning, we just looked down the side of the house. That’s the fence and it goes all the way down the side of the house.
This is pretty much where the space would be if you wanted to do your veggies or plant extra little bits. It’s just little points upon pathways. Again, we love the steel, absolutely brilliant, and a little walkway that goes right into where we were before with the grass area. Then we come back around here, back up to the front. We have plenty of space. I’m going to come just here and then turn around and have a look at where we came in.
How doable? What could you do with this? It’s like a blank canvas extraordinaire. I just want us to just think about it, breathe it in. Then we’re going to go back inside and do a quick wrap-up.
[music]
Isn’t that garden just unexpectedly fabulous? Why would you buy this property? Well, I would think that it was pretty obvious. We have got, as I mentioned at the beginning, the most amazing value for money and so much potential to just– You could paint it, you could make it shabby chic, you could do Airbnb, you could live in it and love it. You could rent it. It would be instantly rentable as an investor, but also, a very loved little home that really is just fabulous, a quarter-acre block, walk to the village. What’s not to love?
Of course, it is fabulous. Mixed rainforest hardwood floors, just absolutely so special. Give me a call, Angela Martin 0403-788-187. Visit the website, angelamartin.tv.
