Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin and welcome to 18 Bangalow Place in Kuranda. If you have been searching for a beautifully maintained pole home, gorgeous tropical environment about 1.2 acres, then this could be your dream house. It was built about 14 years ago by a guy, by the name of Phil Thorpe who was a local builder and he’s specialized and used in a lot of local timbers in the house, but we’ll have a look at that as we go through.
It’s got three bedrooms. It’s got two bathrooms, but the absolute key and what you’re going to seriously fall in love with this house is the lifestyle deck out the back. It’s about 60 square meters. Six zero, as in it’s really big and it has a fantastic five-person round, hot tub. I’m really excited about just was looking at that for a minute, but in the meantime, let’s go in and have a look. I know you’re just going to fall in love with this property.

Hopefully, you didn’t have too much of a little sneak preview of that lifestyle deck as we came in the front doors, but one thing you will have noticed is that the double. You have that feeling of space and openness and of course, a lovely, gorgeous little deck that you can sit in and have a cup of tea, table and chairs or even just feel like you’re in the garden. Let’s just do a little bit of orientation.
We’ve got the kitchen behind us. We’ll have a look at that in a minute. On our right, we’ve got the main master bedroom with an ensuite. On our left, we’ve got two bedrooms. One of them has actually been used as a media room. We have the laundry just as we come in there that fits into the bathroom, but let’s look this way and have a look at the kitchen.
Now, I cannot help, but feel like these poles look like they’ve got gold on them. They’re sparkly and they’re tactile and they’re beautiful. The kitchen, I mentioned at the beginning, has local timbers in it and this black wattle benchtop was actually from this property and it was from the garden, but it’s very usable. It’s very organic. It is very tactile and we have a gas stove. We’ve got a dishwasher that comes with the property. We just have all these gorgeous little open windows that makes us feel like we’re actually part of the garden. You’re just going to fall in love with this kitchen.

We’re about to walk into the master bedroom that has a fantastic ensuite. It has a double shower and a really gorgeous big luxury bath. Let’s walk this way. We’ve got lots and lots of light and it is just a super beautiful, just romantic bedroom. Let’s have a look in here. You’re going to absolutely fall in love with this ensuite. You could imagine the bubbles, a glass of champagne. Again, it’s just bright and airy. You’re going to love it.

You’ve just come through the two-way bathroom from the laundry into one of the bedrooms and really what I was excited about in here, and you may or may not think it’s excitable, but if you love pole homes, the whole thing with the wood and the texture is just fantastic. The kitchen one had a bit of a gold feel and a bit of a gold sparkle. This one has got a silver feel and a silver sparkle. There are all little individual personalities, but each of them are gorgeous.

This is the super-duper exciting part. We’re actually on this lifestyle deck. Now, I mentioned at the beginning, it’s about approximately about 18 meters long and it’s about four, one, two, three, about four meters wide. Now, it feels fantastic. You could sleep out here. You could create another room, but we have the most beautiful, beautiful views into those tropical gardens.
Let’s go up here. Again, at the beginning, I mentioned this is relaxation. I mentioned this five-person hot tub. Now, the brand name is Arcadia Orbit. This was actually sourced from overseas and it fits five people in. You can just imagine on those other cool Kuranda nights or those really warm summer evenings, two people, three people, four people, five people in there just enjoying the luxury lifestyle that this whole balcony represents. This is magical.

There’s two ways that you can get up and down on that deck from the garden. We’ve got this one that’s just come down to the right-hand side as you come out of the main living area. On the other side, we’ve actually got the double carport. It’s nice and easy. You can walk through the house. You can walk up through the garden, but this is a really– We have beautiful chunky posts, beautiful chunky posts. This is a really beautiful part. It’s shady. It is fenced, so you could have little dogs in here or you could put in a pool. It’s gorgeous and flat, but again, you have these lovely, little, relaxing areas where you can just entertain, read a book, and just enjoy.

We’re in these gorgeous tropical gardens. You can see that it’s all usable, flat land at the back of the property. We’ve got a nice gentle slope as we come through, but we’ve got a fabulous little cubby house which you could use as a cubby house, but the current owners actually use it just for wood and you would have noticed that we’ve got that fabulous little wood-burning stove in the main living area. it was just outside the kitchen and the master bedroom. Down the back, we’ve also got a seasonal creek. Now, that just means that in the wet season, you get some water, but it’s a beautiful walk down there and again, it’s just another one of those gorgeous little relaxation spots.

We’re still in the garden, but we’re back at the front of the house. I just wanted to point out all these gorgeous organic, volcanic rocks. They just add such a beautiful texture and a whole living feel to the garden. It’s really gorgeous and of course, behind us, we’ve still got that little deck that we looked at the beginning when we came into the front of the house. Just behind us, we’ve actually got two garden sheds. We have got a 6 x 6 and a 3 x 3, I should say, with a little yard cart. Let’s go and have a look.
I think I did say a 6 x 6 and a 3.3, but an actual fact, it’s a 6 x 3 and a 3 x 3. Here we have them, just behind us. We could put a lean-to on there. You could do anything at the front here for utility. You could make it into a workshop. You can put your cars here if you need some extra space or a boat or a caravan, but as I just mentioned, we’ve got this- it’s not brand new, but it works. It’s not a lawnmower, but it is used as a little tractor and it’s fantastic for when you’re collecting your palm fronds or you just want to put some mulch in those extra little spaces between those rocks. It’s a fantastic little machine, you’re just going to love it.
