Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin, and welcome to number 16-18 Falcon Street in Bayview Heights. It is super-duper hard to imagine that the hustle and the bustle and the convenience of Cairns CBD is literally only about 10 minutes from here. If you can imagine coming home, that feeling of relaxation into what is a magical rainforest retreat that is ultimately private. Plus, we’ve got the potential for a little bit of extra income, or space enough for extended family with a self-contained studio on the ground floor. Let us go in and have a look. You’re going to fall in love with this property.

Come on in, have a look, this is the main entrance into the house. One of the things that you’ll notice is this fabulous architectural design and feel, curved ceilings, I love them. Plenty of space for a couple of great big cars, and, of course, high enough if you’ve got a boat or a big four-wheel drive and, of course, if you’ve got your little turning angle on concrete just behind you as you come in. Beautiful little entrance courtyard, brilliant functionality here. We have got a separate little work shed and a laundry and, of course, a hanging up space just in the carport.
The most majestic palms, they’re just starting to fruit so you’ll get all the lovely little parrots coming in and gobbling on the fruit, and the view down to the pool, which we’ll go down and we’ll have a look at in just a minute, but let’s go into the house and do a little bit of orientation.

One of the things you’ll notice again before we go into the house, but we will go on in just 30 seconds, is the overall size, and scale and absolute sheer beauty of this back balcony. Now, it’s about a whopping 13 or 14 meters that way, and about five meters this way, so you have plenty of space to live outdoors in the tropics. I mentioned just before the fact that we have this unbelievably beautiful majestic rainforest backdrop. You could actually have a look at the fruits and the palm trees were high enough up. Again, look at the parrots nibbling away. It’s just that feeling of relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of life. Let’s go in and have a look, and we’ll take you for a little wander.

Welcome to the inside of the house. Now, you’ll notice that the owners have actually moved out, which makes it fantastically brilliant for you just to move in. Of course, more importantly, so that you can imagine all your lovely relaxing lounges, and dining room tables, and telly areas in this really huge, huge living spot. We’ve got stain glass windows, we’ve got beautiful wooden louvers everywhere, great cupboard space just over here, which I think would be a little dining nook, beautiful casement windows all open up and fully fly screened. If we come this way, bedroom, bedroom, bathroom, and the master is through the other end, which we will have a look at.
This kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. We have got wood, wood, and more wood, and it is just been beautifully maintained, it is solid, it is sparkly, it’s organic, and you don’t see this very often, but pure wooden fronts. Normally it seemed like a veneer.
Great flooring, just mixed hardwood. Again, that adds in with the rain forest feel. We’ve got the cedar on the outside of the house, and as I said, there’s mixed, rain forest, hardwood floors. Normally it’s cypress or it can be quite boring, but this is quite beautiful. Again, plenty of space. We have new oven. I don’t think it’s actually ever been used. We’ve still got the user manual on the inside, and space here for the fridge. Before we go through into the master, we’ll just have a quick look at the two bedrooms, both with air conditioning, and then we’ll head through and look at the bathroom and the master suite.

As if this is not enough big space, you have just got this master retreat at the other end, which is just private and luxurious. We’ve got a hallway. Again, I go on a bit storage. We’ve got plenty of storage in the living room there. Another cupboard in here, and a bigger than average bathroom. Nice romantic lighting, but it’s got a shower, toilet, vanity, and of course at this end of the house, we have the master ensuite, which again has got that unbelievable feeling of relaxation because we’ve got super, duper, duper, high ceilings. You can see that.
We’ve got the wooden louvers which are just beautiful. They’re just all over the house, and they let all the light and the breeze come through. French doors that open out on to the balcony. Little fly screens again so you can sleep at night time and just enjoy the view, and of course the breeze that come with it. All the bedrooms have got air conditioning, so even on the hottest to tropical nights, you can still have that brilliant night sleep. Walk in robe and go check out that ensuite. It is huge and luxurious.

I just couldn’t help myself. I’m sorry I had to meet you back through here in this ensuite. Beautiful, absolutely gorgeous stained glass windows. Again, they lift up gorgeously. Corner spot bath. Just imagine the bubbles and the champagne. Shower, and as I said, just so much space. Take all your clothes off and jump in, bubbly, brush your teeth. Life does not get any better than this.
[music]
The views are absolutely beautiful. Just rainforest views as far as the eye can see. If you’re a gorgeous tree fern, again, we’ve got this gorgeous palm trees. I used the word gorgeous because that is exactly what everything looks like. It’s just green and it is gorgeous and it is tropical. We mentioned about privacy. It’s supremely private. One neighbor on that side. We’ve got none on the back. We’ve got none on this side here. Believe it or not, that is about 11 acres of conservation zone, so you’re going to be looking at rainforest trees as if it was your own.
Quick down the bottom, again, not part of the property, but you have got the luxury of listening to running water. It’d be just a little seasonal creek, but beautiful never the less. We’re going to go downstairs, have a look at the studio. If you can have a little look here, that’s the deck that leads into the studio and into the swimming pool area, just glorious.

Come into the studio. Beautifully self-contained, freshly painted, and again, those luxury wooden floors. Again, we’ve got air conditioning, we’ve got louvers, enough space here for a living area, a little dining area, but again, you’re looking at the rain forest. Bright little kitchen bench, room in there for a laundry. Plenty of cooking space, plenty of cupboard space, and very own bathroom with toilet and shower and vanity.
Look at the size of in here. You could make this almost into two bedrooms if you wanted to, and as I said, income potential, Airbnb is so unbelievably popular at the moment, or just for your friends or for your family, it just keeps everything nice and self-contained and gives people that sense of being on holiday, if it’s Airbnb, or the family, well, if they’re visiting from interstate. It’s like still actually being on a holiday. Airconditioning too, fans, and great screens all the way round. Let’s go have a look at the pool before we do a wrap-up.

This really is a magical part of the property. You’ve got the whole living area upstairs. It seamlessly comes down into the self-contained studio where we’ve just been, and it just flows into the pool area. It is genuinely like a resort. I mentioned it is warm enough to build a jump in even in the winter. It is private enough that you could just jump in there, no clothes on if you wanted to and not worry about any neighbors looking in. Again, the backdrop is just glorious.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of number 16218, Falcon Street in Bayview Heights. If you can just bear with me a little bit, we’ll do a tiny little recap. The house that you’ve seen is very, very lifestyle, fabulous rainforest backdrop and big enough for extended families, four bedrooms and three bathrooms, but, of course, Airbnb potential in the studio underneath.
We’ve also got solar power. I didn’t mention that before, 4KVA, so that helps with the electricity bills and also having a swimming pool, it means you can just have your filter going all day every day and not worry too much about it.
We have the privacy. We spoke about the fact that there’s a conservation zone just straight out the balcony, and no neighbor here and no neighbor there. You really do feel like you’re in a lifestyle retreat. Little oasis with the hustle bustle away from Cairns and great real estate. It’s got all the elements. We have got brilliant, brilliant, brilliant prime position. We have got magnificent rainforest backdrop, so we’ve got that view. Structure of the house is great. Very, very well maintained, and of course, the location. All sorts of beautiful, quality homes are round about.
