Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin, and welcome to 12 Jarawee Road in Kuranda. We talk about location, location, location, and this has the ultimate location. It is one of the most highly sought after locations in the whole of Kuranda with the Barron River within just a couple of minutes’ walk to the end of the road. We are a couple of houses or the exception of a couple of houses at the end of a very no-through road, so peace, quiet, tranquillity, absolutely guaranteed. Now, it is beautiful. We have a lifestyle property that will be the envy of all your friends.
We actually have two properties or two houses on the property. Beautiful, magnificent three-bedroom house with a three-bay shed and a swimming pool, and up with its own very separate entrance is another two-bedroom. Yes, two-bedroom granny flat for extended families, rental income, just absolutely perfect. All of this on open 5.6 acres with, wait for it, your very own permanent creek at the bottom of the property. Let’s go in and have a look. Isn’t this just the most fantastic? I did promise beautiful lifestyle property. Natural, light, fresh air, and one of the first really impressive things that you’ll see is the polished concrete floor. Fabulously easy to keep clean in the Wet Tropics, and also just a relaxed living lifestyle, living area. Now, kitchen is just beyond gorgeous. It’s big. We can be just preparing a bits and a bobs here, and we have got access to chatting with people if you’re sitting, watching telly, or just sitting, relaxing in general. Soft-close drawers. We shouldn’t open people’s doors, but anyway, soft close.
Got a brilliant Bosch dishwasher. Love the fact that we have got a really deep stainless-steel utility sink. Just come, have a quick look here. It’s deeper than normal. Just gives you plenty of opportunity to put your pots and your pans in. Beautiful range hood, and of course, I love those sparkly tiles. Now, this fridge, if you want, it can actually stay with the property. Fits beautifully. Works absolutely– Just works. Then we come into here. Now, we’re going to go there, and then we’re going to go out into the outdoor living area.
We’re going to head up and have a look at the bedrooms first and the bathroom because they, again, are just absolutely gorgeous. Lovely big living space. Cupboard in here for your– whatever you want to put in it, and a really lovely, big, bright bedroom. The views out to the garden are just sensational. If you can see from here, just come over here and have a little look. If you’re waking up in the morning, if I move these blinds and you have greenery, you’ve got birds, you’ve got butterflies, and just that ultimate sense of calm. This is bedroom number 1.
Bedroom number 2, another gorgeous relaxation space. Now, you’ll hopefully have noticed that all the bedrooms, and I mean all the bedrooms, have air conditioning. We’ve actually got six air conditioners in total, so you’re never going to have a problem with keeping cool or keeping warm. We’ve got a toilet just in here, and I’m going to meet you inside that bathroom because it is beautiful and sparkly. What I really, really, really love about it is they got these fabulous little– like Hollywood bubbles, I call them, and you can check that your lippy and everything is just as it ought to be.
Fabulous stainless-steel shower. Now, this gives a bit of an industrial, but still luxury feel because we’ve got the polished concrete floor. I don’t know if you can see this in here. We’ve got stainless steel, which is very unusual, just easy to keep clean. You can scrub it. You don’t have to worry about it getting cracked or mouldy or anything like that. Just absolutely brilliant. Now, when we come back through here, you’ll notice again air conditioner, just up on that far corner. Fans everywhere, air conditioner’s everywhere, but this is absolutely brilliant.
Oh, before we go there, I’m going to have a quick look at the laundry. We’re not going to go out the laundry door, but we could if we wanted to. Come in here. Another great big cupboard, plenty of space for our washing machine and tumble dryer. We’ve got plenty of storage, heaps of storage in this property, and that goes straight out to the back entertaining. Now, talking about entertaining. Wait till you see here. Media room or rumpus room, or bar room. This was originally the double garage, and it has just been beautifully, and I mean beautifully used.
We’ve got flyscreen doors just here, so there we go. Well, it’s got really lovely glass doors. It just makes it just tropical. Just feels tropical. You can just sit and relax here. We’ve got a three-bay shed next door, which we’ll have a look at when we go into the garden. You can have a big telly there. Entertaining is just an absolute breeze. You’ve got our water. We’ve got a bar area, and of course, it serves or doubles up as being able to come in and wash your hands once you’ve been out and had your barbecue.
This little spot here, we’ve got a Crimsafe or a metal flyscreen doors. This is where you’d have your barbie, but this is where you’re going to relax. Look at this. This is just marvellous, absolutely marvellous. Views out to the garden. Views out to the swimming pool. You’ll actually notice just whilst we’re here, or when we came up the driveway, we’ve actually got solar, so it’s about 9.9 kVA and it powers both houses. Remember those air conditioners we spoke about, you don’t have to worry about your power bills.
Relaxation, coming over here, lying on the hammock. How brilliant is that? Absolutely beautiful. We’ve just got the most amazing garden views that you would ever imagine, and I did say at the beginning, totally private, totally peaceful, and you’re never going to see or hear anyone. I mean here, and look at this, how much like– We’ve got two houses. Here, we’ve got a three-bay shed. We’ve got a swimming pool. We’ve got a 5.6 acres. We’ve got a creek. We’ve got everything that you would ever, ever want, and this is just magnificent. Absolutely magnificent.
You can sit here on the hottest of days, sunniest of days, and you just want to jump in. We’ve got brilliant seating area just here, and it means that you can just sit and dangle your little feet. Sit and have a cup of tea or whatever you fancy at the end of the day, overlooking the rainforest. Just beautiful. Just take it all in. I’m going to meet you and show you that other little bedroom.

You’re just going to spend your whole life out here, wind, rain, hail. Actually, you don’t get hail in far north Queensland, but you do certainly get rain and you certainly do get sunshine. We’re totally undercover, so you could be just relaxing, literally all year round. This is a fabulous third bedroom. Now, if you had people who wanted to come and stay, or if you just fancy snuggling this for yourself, it is just gorgeous. This is a really beautiful relaxing room. Plenty big for– great big king-sized bed, if you want to. You can just imagine sitting here in the morning.
You’ve actually got a big telly just right there. Not that you’d maybe sit and watch telly in the morning, but you could. Gorgeous little deck here that overlooks rainforest. Your morning yoga overlooking the rainforest. Imagine how fabulous that would feel overlooking your very own swimming pool. Just sensational. You cannot hear a thing. I keep going on about that, but there is no noise, as in. It’s so unbelievably quiet on this property. We’ve got, surprise, surprise, another air conditioner and toilet with a hand basin and a little cupboard.
I’m sure even if you wanted to put in a shower, for example, that would be doable. You’ve got your own private loo, so again, if somebody’s staying with you, just absolutely perfect. Overlooking that, overlooking the pool, unbelievable, we’re going to head all the way. We’re going to knock into the shed quite yet. We’re going to walk along the pathway because gardens are gorgeous, and we’re going to go up to the second house.

This was one of the other bedrooms in the house. This is actually a really big cupboard in there. It’s got stuff in it, so I’m not going to show you, but it’s a good size. It’s not just cupboard with shelves. Now, the gardens, as I said, are absolutely just beautifully, beautifully sparkly. We’ve got little sitting areas, little sitting spots pretty much everywhere we look. The plants, the tropicalness, just the whole sparkly light is just fantastic. Let’s head up this way. We’ve got little walkways pretty much throughout the rainforest. We’ve got stag horns that are just hanging off trees.
Oh, look at these caladiums. I should know the names of all the plants, but there’s so many to take in. Look at this. Ooh, we’ve got orchids hanging off the trees, more orchids hanging off the trees, Bromeliads, Medinillas. Just absolutely glorious. We’ve got the house over here, which is the granny flat. We shouldn’t really call it granny flat because it is actually a two-bedroom home. It’s separated enough that, as I said, if you wanted to have people staying there, or rent there, or just family, you’re separated, but it’s close enough that you can just have a bit of a wander through and say hi if it is your family.
Now, this too, I love this, old boy shed. Now, it is a brick construction shed. Plenty. Again, I shouldn’t probably show you in here, you’ve got people’s stuff in it, but it is a brilliant big, functional space. You’ve got nice high ceilings. You’ve got block walls. You could use that as a garden shed, or you could use it pretty much for anything you want. Remember, they’re just little rooms. Another great big area in here. Again, it’s just filled with stuff, but I don’t know if you can see, plenty of space. Then we’ve got concrete. We’ve got concrete paths everywhere we walk, which again is brilliant if it’s raining in the Wet Tropics. I’m just going to meet you up here.

You feel like you’re in your– oh, look at this, beautiful, that you’re in your own little private jungle. Jungle is not the right word, but you are so enclosed with tropicalness. It just makes you feel as if you are literally, and I keep going on about this, in your own little world. Now, we’re going to go inside and have a look, but we just have to have a look here because living in the most glorious part of the world, Queensland, far north tropics, world heritage undercover, out of the sun, out of the elements is what we all crave.
Now, we have– it looks like bananas. My goodness. We’ve got banana plants just hanging over your balcony as you do, these red lipstick palms. Just glorious. They have the most beautiful red stems. You’ve got the rainforest just out through here. Over there, if you’ve got the green thumb, we’ve actually also got an enclosed shade area if you want to germinate, or put veggies, or anything like that. Not that there’s not enough space, because there is, but we’ve got another spot there. We’ll just do a quick pan. I’m just going to meet you inside that gorgeous little house.

Just love that. It just makes it feel absolutely homely. We’ve actually got main entrance coming in from Jarawee into, look at this, absolutely beautiful two-bedroom cottage. It is unexpectedly lovely. I did mention that if you wanted to have your extended family, or if you really did want some extra income, you could permanently rent this because it does have the two bedrooms. It’s got a living area, fabulous kitchen, and of course, it’s got its own bathroom. This is nice. You’ll notice the air conditioner. Remember, 9.9 kVA. It just services both houses beautifully.
We’ve got louvre windows up here with fly screens. It’s a good open living space. Beautiful big bedroom in here. This is actually a really big bedroom. I mean a really big bedroom. I mentioned about the king bed in the little studio next to the swimming pool. You could have 10 bunk beds in here, or two king beds. It’s massive. The sheds, greenhouse just out the back there is easily accessible. As I said, if you’ve got green thumbs, absolutely brilliant. This is a lovely, lovely room. We’ve also got high ceilings, too. Then we’ve got this other gorgeous room, bigger than average.
Now, the other thing that you might or might not have noticed that you’ve got a cupboard on the other side. There was actually a door. It’s a not-used door, but if you wanted to, you could resurrect that little area there just in case you wanted to have two-way bedrooms, for example. Now, this plenty of room to sit and relax. Oh, look at those beautiful plants again. It’s just gorgeous. They’re out your own garden. Big, big, big, big, big, what you wouldn’t expect in a little two-bedroom cottage. Totally functional, open, airy. Just lovely. We’ve got a big mirror in here.
I’m going to meet you in there. Room for dryer washing machine. This cupboard’s actually been split in two, so you can pop it in there if you want to, but you can always reconfigure it. Remember, just spaces or areas. We have a lovely big splish, splashy open shower, again, with that louvred glass windows, and it’s got a fly screen too. Toilet in here. Toilet, toilet, but it’s, again, got plenty of space. Vanity, lovely. Little bit here for your bits and your bobs and all your lovelies in the morning. It just works. It really does just work.
Of course, going out there from the kitchen, probably, like with the main house, you’re going to live there. You’re going to eat out there. It’s just all undercover. Just brilliant. We’re going to head out that way and we’re going to have a quick wander through the garden, and I’m going to take you down to the three-bay shed.

Isn’t it just amazing? Plenty of space. Now, look, we’ve even got a great big camper that can get parked here, so we have enough height. This is the second– oh, we’re having a rain forest shower. How beautiful is that? That’s just amazing. This is the fabulous thing about living in the Wet Tropics, it just sparkles in and out. That’s the other driveway, concreted from Jarawee Road, so you don’t ever have to worry about the weather. This is just spectacular. Did you see those kookaburras? Up on the tree, you can hear them. That’s about the only noise that you’ll actually hear in the garden, the kookaburras.
You can actually get up quite close to them, but absolutely fabulous. Back in the garden after looking at our kookaburras, and I did mention before that we have got little seating areas pretty much all throughout the property, but the plants I mentioned when we walked along there are just glorious. You’re going to have orchids, you’re going to have flowering plants, you’re going to have rare plants, you’re going to have all sorts of plants. If you are a gardener, this is a low-maintenance gardener’s paradise.
A couple of little bits of lawn, we’ve got a lawn here that’s up just in front of the cottage, and then we have a little bit of lawn which is at the front of the house, and that’s pretty much it. Oh, and at the back of the shed, of course. Little whence upons, look at this. We can head down through here, we can head down over there, that takes us up to the house. We’ll just do a little walk down through here. This is just glorious. Birds, butterflies as I mentioned before. This takes us right to the front of the main house.
Look at that. You can come down here, come down here. We’re back to the front of the house. Now, you cannot help but notice all those fabulous solar panels. Remember, I’ve said about 10 times now. It’s a 9.9 kVA system. Plenty of power. A three-bay shed is at the top of our turnaround circle, so we can actually drive up the concrete drive into the shed and back down the other side, so super handy. I’m just going to meet you over there.

Every person’s dream three-bay shed. This was the driving the turning circle that I mentioned. We did a little intro just down at the front, and this comes all the way around super-duper handy. Look at this. I think that’s about 3.1 metres in the middle. Concrete slab. What could you use this for? Probably 25 different things, maybe even 50 different things. We have a monster shed. It is about 9 metres by 10 metres. Three roller doors at the front, and great big access roller door at the back.
Now, the mower and the generator are for sale with the property, so these are fabulous, zero-turn ride-on mowers and there is a generator as well, so you can chat about that with me when you come and see the property if you are interested. This takes us out to, again, back of the sparkly gardens. Now, from an orientation point of view, we’ve got a beautiful swimming pool, we’ve got a fabulous relaxation area, you could just potter in and out of there all day every day. You’re so close to the house, you just you’d probably never be out of there if you are a male part of family.
Again, trees, beautiful, orchids, staghorns and this used to be an old swimming pool which is now a fabulous, it’s like a big composting pile, heap, whatever you want to call it but you can put all your stuff in there, and you could just have it compost away to nothing. Plenty of opportunity to get your long organic sort of mulch if you like. Natural native trees and bushes mean that you’re going to get your natural native butterflies and your birds. The bird song here is just quite unbelievable. These really are just gorgeous. I think they’re Lobelia.
We’ve got a Hills Hoist here, and that just shows you the side of the house from the back entertaining area. Now, down here is the way to our creek. The creek is magnificent. It is on the property, and we also have a very old shade shed down there so I’m just going to meet you down there and we’re going to head into the creek. Another amazing potting shed. We’re in the rainforest. You could just it’s like camouflage, isn’t it, really? We’ve got all their metal tables and trays. Let’s come and have a look in here, because again, if you’re a gardener, these things are important.
Actually, it’s really big. You can get rid of the leaves from the top, and you would have brilliant spice to do your little germinations of your tomato seeds or anything you want really. Now, the creek is down this way. It’s a two or three-minute walk. We’re not going to walk all the way down with you looking at my back or me looking at your front, but we have a beautiful pathway down there, so I’m going to meet you halfway down.

The trees are unbelievable, that’s pandanus. The biggest thing that you’ll notice when we come down from the house area is the difference in temperature. You cannot see that on the video or you can’t feel it on the video, but in the natural rainforest, it is a natural air conditioner, so we’re probably three or four degrees of a difference as in cooler when you come into the rainforest. We’ve got one half of the property. Remember, we’re about 5.6 acres. Half of it is open flat beautifully sunny, just gorgeous, and the other half is shaded, rainforesty, cool, and of course, gorgeous.
Now, I’m going to head down again just to the bottom of the path, and I’m going to meet you at the creek. That is just the most– look at the size of that tree, even I wouldn’t be able to hug it, it is so big. Now, this is an old pumping box here. This creek is on your property. Now, you could imagine– and I mean, imagine on the hottest of days just coming down here, sitting relaxing, reading a book, you could build a little deck, a little platform. You can see that, we’ve got a little walking rope, the rope actually is not walking, but a little bit there where you can hang on to it so you can actually walk across the creek.
Now, the land, there is land at the other side of the creek that also belongs to this property, but this is unbelievably special. Where else on the planet are you going to find that in your own backyard? Gosh, I’ve just got my exercise for the day, how fantastic was that river, not a river; creek, absolutely feeds the soul. I’m going to meet you up at the pool, we’re going to do a wrap-up. I really hope you’ve enjoyed this wonderful little extended tour of 12 Jarawee Road in Kuranda. We mentioned location, location, location, and hopefully now, you feel just how fabulous a location is almost at the very end of a no-through road.
It’s totally peaceful, totally quiet, and we have everything that you would ever need, including a very sparkly, beautiful, entertaining swimming pool. Two houses, income potential is huge with the little Chelsea cottage, two bedrooms, and of course, we have got the two separate driveways. Again, we have that separation if you want it, too. 9.9 kVA solar system, so your energy bills are going to be almost minimal. You could almost put a heater in there if you wanted to.
We’ve got our six air conditioners, fabulous media room with a wet bar, pouring out into a lifestyle entertaining area, and our three-bay shed, and who would believe that we’re only about 20 minutes down to Smithfield Shopping Centre and about 40 minutes into Cairns so you have access to everything you would ever need, but you come home to this oasis.
