Angela Martin: Hi. I’m Angela Martin and welcome to 12 Jarawee Road in Kuranda. I’m unbelievably super excited about showing you this, quite simply, stunning lifestyle property. What about location? Location, location. Well, Jarawee Road is one of the most highly sought-after locations in the whole of Kuranda. That is because it is rainforest-y and it is beautiful. That direction, we’re almost at the end of a very no through road and we have direct access along the end of the road, a couple of meters, into the Barren River.
The highest property is actually big enough for the extended family, even the biggest of biggest families because up here we have the main house, beautiful, three-bedroom, two-bathroom, swimming pool. Up here, we have a granny flat, two bedrooms, yes, two-bedroom granny flat with its own private independent entrance. All of this is set on a whopping 5.6 acres of just seriously stunning beautiful tropical gardens, and you’ve got a permanent creek at the back. Let’s go in and have a look. We’re not even in the house yet, but the gardens are spectacular. We’re going to have to wait until we can have a wander through those magic gardens, but I’m going to meet you on the inside of the house, just excitement plus.

Oh, just come through the double garage there and into how much just relaxing lifestyle could you ever wish for. The colors in the garden– I know that I keep gravitating to the garden because there are very few gardens in Kuranda that really just are so magnificent. You’d almost have to go to the botanic gardens to see such a beautiful, beautiful view out off your very own window. You’re going to notice the polished concrete floor. This gives it a really fresh, easy, modern, clean feel. We’re talking about low-maintenance. You can be out there enjoying, luxuriating by the pool and not worrying about housework.
Then, of course, we have got stone benchtops. We have got a magic big gas cooker and functionality off all those fabulous drawers so that when you’re cooking and when you’re entertaining, it’s all here. Magic. Love it. Big entertaining sink for all your dirty dishes because you’re just going to keep cooking and cooking and cooking. This is just easy. It’s relaxed. Orientation point of view, we’ve got our laundry just here. Then up the hallway, we have got our two bedrooms, bathroom, and really big linen cupboard. Where are we going to start? I really want to start out there so you can see it. We’ll have a quick look at the bedrooms, follow through the laundry, and then we’ll head out the back.
Fans, plenty of cupboard space. I shouldn’t open people’s cupboard doors, but that’s a really big linen cupboard. Then we’ve got two lovely bedrooms. Again, both have got fabulous, and I mean fabulous garden views. Just come this way. How would you feel about waking up in the morning totally, totally, totally private? I’m going to go on about just how private this actual property is, and that’s beautiful. We’ve got little blinds on the windows, lying under the fan, but that view is sensational.
Pop a little head in here. We’ve got another little bedroom, very, very cute. Nice big modern bathroom. Again, the polished floors all the way through, so, so easy to keep clean. This, I love. Just check that my little lippie is in place. This bathroom is nothing short of glorious. We have got stainless steel base just here. It has a sort of just a resort industrial feel. Again, so easy to keep clean. I love that showerhead. That’s just magic, absolutely magic. Of course, we’ve got our red fluffy towels, red being my favorite color. We’re going to head back through into the main living area and then we’re going to head through the laundry. I’m going to meet you over at that fabulous lifestyle pool.

Come and have a look at the laundry. We’re not going to go out this way because it’s almost sacrilegious, but we’ve got plenty of space here. Again, functional, functional, unbelievably functional, plenty of space for your dryer, your washing machine, plenty of cupboards upstairs, plenty of cupboards under the sink, and again, that one there. We have to go out this way, not through the laundry, not through the laundry, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Plenty of space for a big double fridge and, again, just more cupboard space than you can poke a stick at.
This is brilliant. Hot wet tropics, world heritage, rainforest area, and we could be living outside all year round, winter, summer, hot, windy, rainy, just it is brilliant outdoor entertaining. Again, from a little orientation point of view, we’ve got the garage, double garage, double roller doors. We come in here. This is where I came in at the beginning. We’ve got another little fabulous patio barbecue area.
Gardens, we’ll get to the gardens. Lifestyle. Absolute just joyous lifestyle. Very few people would put a billiard table outdoors unless they knew it was going to be protected and safe. You could just imagine having– I probably shouldn’t mess that up just in case it changes the game. Your family and your friends just enjoying, relaxing, on the weekend or at nighttime, a stressful day at work.
Then, again, you’re coming into this. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I need you to come along here so we can see. We got some sunscreen there because, even though it’s a bit of a cloudy day, we do still are able to lie, if you wanted to, in the sun. This is beautiful. We’ve got, again, surrounded by gardens. We could just be sitting, relaxing, having a brekkie, into the day, beginning of the day. We are surrounded, and I mean surrounded, by all this fabulousness. That rainforest is on your land and it goes for what seems like forever and ever.
This is the beauty of this property. We have got half-sun, open bright and sunny, beautiful gardens. We’ve got lots of color, and rainforest, and the permanent creek, and we will go down there and have a look later. The permanent creek, we start off down there and we go down and it runs right across the back of the property. We have got another little bedroom and bathroom. I’m going to meet you around there and have a look.

I’m probably going to get into lots of trouble for that. It is very addictive. I would imagine you would just want to just pick stuff up and start playing. Anyway, Angela, stop it. With the house, we’ve got the separation. Again, I spoke at the beginning about extended families, so even the house itself has got provision, a beautiful swimming pool, for a little self-contained area, so it could be perfect for your teenagers.
Again, if somebody’s coming to stay, if the other two-bedroom granny flat is taken, it’s plenty big, plenty of space, and it’s got a very lovely chalet feel. It just feels intimate and cozy. Again, we’ve got complete privacy and the gardens are everywhere. Then just behind us, we’ve got, again, garden view and a loo with a view. We’ve got a shower, a little hand basin. These cupboards in here are actually really, really deep, so plenty of space to hang up all your bits.
Storage bookcase, just absolutely– It’s got a magic feel, absolutely magic feel. We are going to go this way, a little path, concrete pathway that actually joins the granny flat. Well, I’m going to say joints are actually really separate but we’re going to head in that direction. Let’s go.

It’s just an unbelievably inspiring garden, but we will as always get to that. Did you notice those couple of big cupboards that joined from the inside and the outside, and then there’s another extra cupboard? I kept talking about space, plenty of space to put stuff. These are spectacular. If you google azaleas, they’re one of the most beautiful, colorful shrubs, I think, in the whole wide world.
Then if we have a look up here, we’ve got all the gorgeous, just anthuriums. They’re just unbelievably beautiful. We’ve got dappled light. We’ve got staghorns, just unreal. This takes us through to the other part of the property where the granny flat is. In between, we’ve actually got a shed, little storage area, which you could use. Beautiful walkways down there, oh, we’ll have a look in a minute.
That you could use for a pottery studio or woodworking. It’s going nowhere. It’s filled with stuff but I just wanted to quickly run your eyes so that you get a sense of the size of it, and then there’s a little door at the side that joins onto the other side. Really, really, really super duper functional. Again, in the wet tropics, concrete is our best friend. Look at this garden. It is sensational, absolutely sensational. Azaleas, anthuriums, just– This is our two-bedroom granny flat.
Unbelievably brilliant, self-contained entrance down onto Jarawee. When we started at the beginning, we could see appointed up the hill. That’s its own separate entrance. Number 12, the main house is there. Now, you can see, you can have a little bit of a peak and you can see a little bit of the house. If you had several families living here, you really would feel as if– Oops, we’ll go this way.
You really do feel as if you’re in your own little world. This is magic. We’ve got a deck. Of course, it’s a deck. We’re going to go into the granny flat in just a minute. If we have a look at, being able to sit and relax, again, at the end of the day, on here, big enough for a table. We’ve got one, two, three, four, five, six, eight chairs, big table, plenty of space still for even the biggest of barbecues, and you are out the sun, and you’re out the rain.
That’s the granny flat there. Look at that. If you are into gardens, we have got a magic shade house. Now, we are going to go in and we’re going to have a good old explore.

How brilliant is this? Again, you’re coming up your own driveway, plenty of undercover shade and sail cloth for the car, and we are straight in. We could also go in the other way but there’s always, in Kuranda, we’ve got 1 or 2 or 10 different entrances to get into the house. This is like a little self-contained apartment, as in it’s a house. It feels like a house, it looks like a house but it’s a granny flat.
I hope you’ve got a granny that actually just loves lots of space. We’ve got two bedrooms. This would be the little living area. Brilliant, just natural, natural light. Again, everything looks out into the garden. Then we’ve got two bedrooms, one here and one here, and they are a really good size. Now, they are a really good size. Say, one, two, three, four, five. This is almost 6 meters long, so you could put a bed in here, you could make it whatever you wanted to make it.
As always, they are just rooms and you can jiggle stuff for your life but big and spacious. You’ve got that magic, oh, that’s just brilliant, that shade germination area, if you like, or you could just use it for whatever you wanted to use it for. This is where we came in, dining area. Again, you’ve almost got the potential to have two living areas. We’ve got this one and here, and then we’ve got kitchen, and then we’ve got laundry. Plenty of space. Plenty of space.
Then we’ve got bathroom, lovely little sparkly metal just here. It just feels right. It just feels right. Then, of course, we’ve got a separate toilet in here. We go back out, room for a fridge, a little bit of a pantry, and back out with all your lovely, yummy food and your friends under there. We’re going to have a bit of a quick wander around the gardens, a quick look down at the permanent creek before we do a wrap-up.
I can’t get over the color. You’ll notice that there are lots and lots of little special whence upon areas for sitting. Obviously, we’ve got the undercover deck with the granny flat and we’ve got our undercover entertaining area at the house. In amongst the gardens, we’ve got chairs, in amongst the gardens, we’ve got another little sitting spot where you can just enjoy. Oh, look at that weather. Oh, this just sparkles. Red chair, comfy chair, another little chair, and this just all meanders back through to the house.
We’ll wander back through this way and then we will head down to the creek. I think you’re getting a sense of what the gardens are. I don’t have to walk around the whole six acres, you’re probably going to go on, “Oh, Angela, we’ve seen it.” It is joyous. It’s absolutely joyous. We’ve got color, we’ve got light, we’ve got heliconias. I’m not going to go on about it anymore, we’re going to go head round that path and I’m going to meet you down towards the creek.
I’ve changed my mind. I just turned around and admired and inspired. That’s the front of the house again. I just wanted to show you, we’ve got all these open, gorgeous, sunny flat areas. That is just beautiful. Know your neighbors. Unbelievably what is not to love, and of course, that was the bedroom where when you wake up in the morning, this is all the yumminess that you see. We are going to head down the back and we are going to have a look at that permanent creek.
[music] You’ll never guess what I’m just seeing, hydrangeas. This is the way to the creek. There’s probably a billion ways to the creek, but we are going to head down that way, but look, look, look, look, look, look at these. Outstanding. I’m speechless, that is fabulous. That’s a hydrangea in Kuranda along with azelias in Kuranda. They are not really supposed to be growing in this part of the world. Testament hand, you’re just going to take your hat off to the people who have actually made this garden, just so beautiful. Again, just have a quick look at the color all the way around here. This used to be, you’ll love this.
Oh, just look at this. Just look at this. Imagine you’re just at the end of the day relaxing in that, brilliant. That used to be a really old swimming pool, which now is a fabulous use where you can pull all your trimmings and all your palm fronds and everything in there. The open, sunny tropical, and I mean, tropical botanical style gardens finishes around about this line here and then we start to head down into the natural rainforest. You can see that line when we were round about the house and the granny flat.
We’ve got a little gate just here. Down we go, down these little steps. We’ve got another little area here where if you just want to put a little pot plant, you can see this shade and the light change in drastically, and another little spot in there that you can put plants if you want to, not like you don’t have enough space at the other side. The land is flat, open, and sunny from here to there and we can see now that we can– Whoops. In the hottest of hottest days, we have instant temperature drop. Probably 32 degrees, probably 27, 26, maybe 27, 28, but it is radically different.
Little posi just here, you can just sit and relax. Oh, look at the size of that tree. Oh wow, wow. We talk about fabulous rainforest, Jarawee Road, Fairyland Road, if you google it, it’s got a lot of historic significance, this whole area. Please, do look at Jarawee and Fairyland because rainforest trees just like that are part of the landscape. Absolutely brilliant. We’re just going to head down through here. I’m not going to make you walk all the way down, I promise, but I just need you to feel just how magical this is. We’ve actually had got a nice easy walk path down through there, so I’m going to meet you down there in a couple of minutes.

Can you believe this is in your back garden? It’s incomprehensible that you can just be so close to Kuranda Village, you are almost within walking distance to Kuranda State School and the Aquatic Center and you have that fabulousness at the front and then you’re walking down here into your backyard. We are truly privileged, absolutely privileged to have this on our property. We had about a three-minute walk from top to bottom. We are about halfway, so we’re going to keep going in that direction. This is just magic, absolutely magic.
Now, if you wanted to walk down here every day, bring the dog down, bring kids down, or just walk down yourself, you would probably chop. You can see, we’ve actually got a pathway there, but that’ll always grow and you’ll always be splitting it into two so you can actually get down, but this is why we’re here, we’re at the water. This is just sensational. Oh, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look at that tree. Again, another unbelievably. Wow, that’s big. That’s big. This used to be an old pump where you could actually pump water from the creek up to the property.
The property has bore water, beautifully drinkable, so no longer required, but I wanted to show you this because you imagine if you had a little deck down here, you could just come and sit and just relax and be at one with nature because we’ve actually got a little bit of rock there so that you could walk down if you wanted to into a– you can hang onto it into the water, but you’re going to have water holes. Imagine that in your garden. Now, this is absolutely on your property. Creeks do not run in straight lines, but there is plenty of land on the other side of the creek. You can see the green rope that’ll help you up the other side. The other side is also part of your land and there are no rear neighbors, so unreal. We’re going to head back up the top and we going to do a wrapup.

Well, it’s like your own national park, and quite literally, you have got your rain forest at the back, but the location on Jarawee Road, unbelievable. We literally could– if you had children, they could jump on the little bicycles and just cycle into Kuranda State School and, of course, we have got the Aquatic Center as well, which when you’ve got a swimming pool that looks like that, it’s probably not a big deal, but we’ve got all this fabulous entertaining. We’re close to Kuranda Village. It is inspiring. It’s awe inspiring. It makes the hairs on the back of my hands prickle up because it is just got such a magical, magical feel.
