Angela Martin: I’m Angela Martin. I’m at number 10 Gregory Terrace in Kuranda. If you love pole homes, you are just going to be blown away by this architecturally designed mega classic, big enough for the whole family. Of course, the location is brilliant if you commute into Cairns because we’re at the top of the range, that’s what it’s called, top of the range area off Kuranda. Beautiful, great, big, long driveway so we’re just going to hop in the car and we’re going to take you up to the front of the house. You’re going to fall in love with it for a start, but if you want to see more properties just like the one we’re about to have a look at, don’t forget to press that little red Subscribe button. Let’s jump in and have a look. Come on in, we’re going to head up the driveway. I really hope you don’t mind us jumping in the cap together because when you’ve got beautiful long driveways, rainforest driveways, it’s just– Gosh, just have a look up here. These are licuala palms, ancient palms, and they are really prevalent on your new property. Anyway, we’ve got long, long driveway and it gives you a sense of privacy. When you come home at the end of the day, this is what you are going to see and this is what you are going to experience. It is just unbelievable.
Take a look, just as we come up to the carport and as we come up to– It’s close to the house, those fabulous pandanus, look at the trees, we are rainforest extraordinaire. You’ll see that we’ve got a round circular driveway, we come in this way and it goes all the way round and oh my goodness, this opens up into an absolutely stunning oasis, as in resort stunning oasis. We are going to go in.
[music]
We come out of the carport, massive big carport run by 8 x 8, we’ll have a little look at that shortly but all of a sudden, we have come from amazing private, pristine rainforest driveway into what opens up quite literally. Just come back over here, come over here, fan palms, 20, 40, 50 years old into something that is over better homes and garden magazine and, of course, a resort-style pool which is just unbelievable. We’re going to just have a wander through here and then we’re going to go up into the house and we’re going to have a really brilliant explore of that.
[music]
We are going to get into the house, I promise, but you just cannot help but touch and feel all the beautiful tropical plants as you come along this, again, amazing path. This is a bluestone, again, very organic. We’re going to go there, we’re going to talk about the relaxation here. Hopefully, you’re now getting a sense of just the scale of this magnificent pole home but come on in, wipe our feet.
I have to say, tada, big enough for the whole family, we spoke about that just a minute ago, and it truly is. We have pole homes where we just have little baby ones with no cupboards, with no decks, with no usable land. Here, we have everything. Little baby bit of orientation, we’ve come in really big long driveway, I don’t know if we can see out here at the moment, but we will because the view is brilliant. We’ve come into the house, two-story, Chris Van Dyke was the architect who designed and built it, and he is absolutely revered in this part of the world to produce just the most beautiful, amazing workmanship. We will talk about that again as we go through it.
Two live-in areas, one of them is down here, and we’ve got three bedrooms, one, two, three with a really beautiful bathroom and then upstairs, through those brilliant little winding steps, we’ve got almost a mirror image. Upstairs, we’ve got a main living area and a kitchen and we’ve got a master en-suite and again, a couple of bedrooms at that end. Then we have got huge decks, oh my goodness, you’re just going to fall in love with them. Just have a look at the view from in here and then we’ll go have a look. Actually, we’ll start upstairs and then we’ll come back down as we go to the swimming pool.
[music]
We essentially have a six-bedroom, majestic is the word. That’s going to be my favorite word today because it is majestic. A six-bedroom majestic pole home. We’re going to start off in the kitchen, wooden and beautiful. This would have all been original handcrafted wood, handcrafted or so wood benchtops, handcrafted. You can see the door is handmade and just beautifully looked after. We’ve got a big sparkly fridge here or space enough for a big sparkly fridge, the fridge does not come with the property.
We’ve got another big walk-in cupboard. How good is that? Plenty of space. What’s really important here is that all these windows open out and lets you actually see all the way in. Nice and easy open, nice and easy close because the view, I’m not sure if you can see it with the light at the moment but again, we’ve got these beautiful big fan palms. We talk about quality construction. Just if you can, just put your eyes up to here and look at all the magnificent joinery and carpentry and, of course, poles.
This would have been in the ground as a living, eating, breathing, not literally, but this is a tree, would have been cypress or turpentine, and you can just see how majestic it is. It’s got all the original bits of just organic loveliness. With pole homes, they use cypress, they use turpentine because they are insect-resistant so you get longevity and you really don’t have to worry too much about your little bits getting eaten. Still got to be vigilant, but that’s why they build them at those woods.
This is cypress. Again, nice solid, lovely light, airy flooring. Before we go out there, I’m going to resist the temptation to show you the pool. Oh, it’s gorgeous. We’re going to come into the master suite. Now, all the rooms have air conditioning, all the rooms open out onto balcony so that you can sleep with your louvers open, screened as well, very important. Then, of course, we’ve got just such a beautiful organic, look at the view out to the rainforest from your bath and, of course, a really big double shower and beautiful wooden vanity. Just have a wander back through there, and we’ll have a quick look at those other rooms.
[music]
I know that you probably can’t see it with the light, but all the louvers in the bedrooms are wood, not fake wood, not plastic, not wood look alike, but actual wood wood. Again, I don’t know that you can possibly see is that we’d actually full fly-screened. You can sleep in this beautiful master on-suite, overlooking the gorgeous fan palms with your air conditioning unit and your fan and, of course, we’ve got sliding glass robes, we’ve got them in all of the bedrooms. Very, very, very luxurious, very, very, very decadent.
Let’s have a look out here.
Again, we’re on the top layer, top level, just stunning, just a beautiful little undercover, little whence upon spot where you might want to sit, but you probably wouldn’t because this is truly, truly, truly resort life. Where else in the world, whether you’re in Melbourne, whether you’re in Sydney, to come home to 1.3 acres of tropical living. You can only but imagine what it feels like. This deck is huge, these poles are glorious and huge, but have a look over here. Your very own resort swimming pool, your very own spa, and your very own entertaining area.
You can entertain up here, go down, jump in the pool, come back, or we’ve got exactly the same deck space under when we came through the original pathway. I reckon it will be four meters that way by a lot that way. Just breathe, take it in, and we’ll have a quick look at those other couple of rooms before we head downstairs.
[music]
I would just want to spend the whole of my life on that deck. Even though we’ve got massive living area on the inside, guarantee, and the beautiful wet tropics of Far North Queensland, that is where you’re going to live. The stairs that we came up, beautiful little stairs. Again, each of the bedrooms are very similar. We’ve got again a fly screens, we’ve got our louvers, we have got our air conditioner, and we have got mirrored robes. All with garden views, so you never ever, ever feel hemmed in. Then just pop your little head in there.
[music]
I’m going to head all the way down these little stairs, quick look underneath, and then we’re going to head out to that swimming pool. I love those stairs, I love the fact that you can run your hands up and down in there as you go up and you go down. Again, we have plenty of space out the back. This little bit of balcony here is actually bigger than the one that we’ve got up top. The other thing too, and we didn’t look at this and we will, is that we have a set of stairs that goes out from the top of the master bedroom. You go along the balcony, there’s actually stairs that come down through. Let’s just look at them whilst we’re here.
Right here, and these stairs just go up to the side of the balcony, easy access in and out. I love those palms, I just love them. They’re just amazing. You’re getting the sense that the house is massive. You’re getting the sense that it’s resort-like. To think that we’re literally only about 15 minutes down the Kuranda road to Smithfield Woollies, Coles, all the shopping Bunnings that you’d ever want, of course, we’ve got NBN, we have got mains power, we have got mains water, and we have got all these air conditioners and we have got solar power too. It really does give you a feel for you would never have to go anywhere.
Bedroom number four, depends on how we’re counting them. Again, they’re all similar. We’ve got our French doors, we’ve got a fan, we’ve got louvers, air conditioner. This is brilliant. Have a little look in here. Nice, big walk-in shower, fabulous bath. Again, we have views out to the rainforest. Everywhere we look in this property, there is wood. It is a wood lover’s paradise. Beautiful chrome fittings, just easy clean, so you’ve that modern feel in amongst an organic wooden pole home. Just have another quick look at those other two rooms, and then we are going to go out to that swimming pool.
[music]
There are very few properties or houses that you will say that have literally the two main living areas. You can see we’ve got big chunky sofas and chairs. We have got a really big telly and, of course, it’s the same upstairs. We have got a dining table that is big enough. It was probably big enough for 4, 8, 9, 10 people even though we’ve got three chairs here. Plenty of space between them, and the space left, huge, huge huge. I did promise we’re going to get there, but the laundry, I’ve got to show you where the laundry is. Again, our orientation, this was a master wing up here, this is one of the bedrooms. Just pop your little head in here. Oops, let me put the little light on for us.
It’s just a nice little simple laundry. Plenty of space, you can hang your stuff out. Walking under these palms, just glorious, just beautiful. When you think about the dappled sunlight, when you think about when it rains rains, you will get the sound of rain on those big leaves. It is the most mesmerizing, relaxing sound, in my little baby opinion and the whole wide world, because you can fall asleep listening to the pitter-patter of rain. Again, where else in the world are you going to build and get that? Take that in, resort living at it’s absolutely very best. We’re going to head around there and I’m going to meet you in the pool.
Even the hammock, oh my goodness. I’ve got relaxation coming all over me. Spa area, look at this, how many people? 10, 5, 4, however many friends you might have visit. I can almost guarantee that you are going to have lots and lots of visitors. Have a look at that. If ever there was a stunning lifestyle property, beautiful sparking sun coming out, this will have to be it. Again, swimming pool. This is massive. Let’s have a little baby feel. You could seriously jump in there and just swell and just relax and just put your little arms over here. It’s actually big enough to swim.
I don’t know how fast a swimmer you are, but deep here, you’ve got plenty of space there to just sit in the shade. Again, it’s the whole organic feel. When you go on holiday, you want something that’s luxury. You want something that is private. You want something that absolutely feeds the soul and rejuvenates you and makes you feel just happy. This, I can guarantee, if you come home at the end of the day and enjoy the weekend, is going to make you happy. Just imagine your family, your friends, you, your life in this particular spot at this point and time. Take a deep breath, absorb it.
[music]
I really hope that you have enjoyed this baby little baby film of number 10 Gregory Terrace in Kuranda and get the sense of how majestic and flexible this whole property is. Why would you buy it? Breathe in the smell of the yumminess, that’s why you should buy it. Seriously, you have got all the flexibility in the world. Mom and dad, big family, can live upstairs, children or guests have got all their own bedrooms and living space downstairs and, of course, nice easy access into the swimming pool. Resort-style decks all the way up here. All the way along there and, of course, the location– Unbelievably brilliant location, only 15 minutes down to Smithfield which has got all the facilities you would ever want.
If you fly in and out or when you can fly in and out of Cairns, the airport is only another 5, 10 minutes further down. You have the best of both worlds. We’ve got six bedrooms, we have got two bathrooms, we’re on acre and a third. Plenty of useable space and, of course, a Chris Van Dyke beautiful pole home. Take it in.
