Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin and welcome to 1 Hope Close in Kuranda. This property has the most magical, unexpected, magical view of the largest lily pond on the planet. It’s actually not the largest lily pond on the planet but it is vast and the views are stunning. You’ve got 100% privacy. We’re on an enviable corner block. We have about one acre of beautiful tropical gardens. Let’s go in and have a look. This is the most amazing part of the world. It is a beautiful, beautiful property.

Angela: We’re not going out there just yet. You just have to wait for another one minute, but it is just so beautiful. We begin with a little bit of orientation. Two entrances into the house. We’ve got a great, big, long frontage. We came in this path here, concrete, again, our best friend in the wet tropics. We’ve also got another entrance to the side as well. Two entrances coming into the house also means two entrances into the property. You can get all the way around in your car or your trailer if you want to.
We come into the main living area. Beautiful, beautiful timber floors, gorgeous French doors coming all the way through to that special view. Then, behind us, we have got a great big cupboard and a master ensuite. Then, on this side, we have got bedroom, bedroom, and bathroom, and a gorgeous, beautiful wooden kitchen. These windows open up onto lifestyle deck. Again, I can guarantee, we are going to spend probably the next five minutes out there looking at all the stunning views. Before we do, let’s have a quick look at the bedrooms and we’re going to head out and have a look at that majestic lily pond.

Angela: Come on through to the master side. Plenty of space in here for a big lounge, big telly, family living. One of the things that you’ll notice is that we have got amazing wooden timber louvers throughout the house. On the way through the master– I just have to share, this would have to be one of the biggest central cupboards. It used to be a laundry, which is now downstairs. That just leaves heaps of storage, which I know that everybody in this day and age loves. We all love storage.
Each of the bedrooms have sliding robes. Master has a walk-in. It has wonderful air conditioning. That’s a new air conditioner. Of course, we have the ensuite. Go in there. Have a quick look and we’re going to head out. Have a look. Before we go to the ensuite, the most beautiful tree frog. That is a about a frog song that we’re going to talk about. Have a quick look in there and we’re going to head outside.

Angela: Master suite out under this amazing deck via this beautiful tree frog. Come on over, at last, I’m going to show you these stunning views. As you come through this door as well, we have new sliding screens on the bedroom door and also the front French doors as you come in. I know it’s taken us a little bit to get to this point, but that is unbelievably, and I mean unbelievably, majestic.
There is nowhere else that you could sit on your own balcony. Imagine the moon. We’re on the Southside, so we’re not on the hot side of the property. You could sit here nighttime, daytime, family friends enjoying tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, a glass of wine, beer, whatever takes your fancy and you would never ever, ever tire of looking at that pond.
You know, we live in the Wet Tropics, World Heritage Wet Tropics, and imagine we talk about bird song, frog song, the orchestra of frogs and all the beautiful water animals that you have got access to. It is just unbelievably– and I go on about this, I’m sorry. I’m not sorry, but this really is amazing. It’s stunning and, of course, we’re overlooking our own swimming pool, our own resort-style swimming pool with this glorious waterfall. Just take half a minute, let’s really have a look at that and then we’ll head down into the gardens.

Angela: Before we head down, I just cannot take my eyes off this view. Before we head down the stairs into the pool and the garden, just a little extra bit of luxury. There’s a laundry shoot. I mentioned that the huge, big cupboard in the living area used to be the laundry. The laundry is now down under this part of the house and you come out in the morning, take all your clothes off and down they go. How brilliant is that? We’re going to head down the stairs into the resort pool and then have a quick look around the gardens.

Angela: We have had the most amazing weather in Far North Queensland. We’ve gone from huge tropical rains to hot, dry days and irrespective of the weather, you’ll fall in love with being able to jump into your own resort type pool. It actually looks really quite deep from here. I’m not sure how deep it is, but, you could certainly, I think I would be up to here. I’m not a very big person.
Beautiful steps here just for sitting again, relaxing, and it is 100% private. I mentioned we’ve got no rear neighbours. You cannot see anyone over that side of the lily pond. We have a corner orientation of the property, so there’s no one looking from there. There’s no one looking from the front entrance and there is absolutely no one looking from that direction either. You really can, again on the hottest days, take your clothes off, jump in, enjoy the coolness and just marvel at that view.
It is just stunning. Of course, we have got that amazing lifestyle property balcony up there. Have a bit of a quick look here and then we’ll have a quick look in the garden.

Angela: Plants are just tropical and gorgeous. We’re going to have a little look under the house where the laundry area is. This is the pool pumpy area, new chlorinator so you don’t have to worry about any old equipment. Always makes a big difference when your pool is beautifully cleaned. This is a really brilliant functional outdoor laundry area. Again, when you live in the Wet Tropics, having outdoor laundry facilities is absolutely brilliant. You can hang clothes up underneath, you don’t have to worry about the rain, everything dries.
Of course, if you’ve got drip dry stuff, you’re not having to worry about doing that inside of the house. Now, this again, underside of the house you don’t have to worry too much about that but you can see all your plumbing, all your electrics. We have 4kVA solar on the property as well. Energy bills very, very, very small indeed. This was the second entrance that I spoke about that allows you to get into the garden and pretty much anywhere you want to be if you’ve got trailer loads of mulch, if you want to bring some garden stones down, if you’ve got plants. Again, just really handy.
This, look at this gorgeous little viewing seat overlooking that lily pond. We’ve got a garden shed and the land goes for ages that way. We’ve got a little greenhouse or a little aviary over the other side. We’ll do a quick pan at that. You got beautiful lawn, it’s not a huge amount so you’re not going to spend all day, every day cutting the grass. I have to say this is so peaceful. You can hear the animals, you can hear the water, you can hear the orchestra of the frogs. It is unbelievably special.
Another bit of garden on the other side, we’ll have a quick look and then we’ll do a bit of a recap.

Angela: Well, at the end of that side of the lovely garden, the property is quite a long property that interfaces with the lake or the lily pond. We’ve got a beautiful big bit of tropical area over there, house in the middle, double driveway and then another big massive area of garden over this side. On the way, we’ve got a big double lock up garage, concrete floor, power. Just really, really handy. Again, if you look up here, concrete, just absolutely brilliant in the Wet Tropics.
Let’s have a quick look at the garden over this side. Beautiful little stairs, rocks, all sorts of interesting walkways, pathways. It all has views out to the beautiful lily pond. We’ve got star apples, fruit trees galore, they are absolutely delicious. They’re the ones where you cut them, just like crispy apples. We get fruit off them pretty much all year. The tree ferns and, of course, lovely, lovely lawn. Through here again you can see the pond. Hopefully, you get my sense the fact that this really is just the most amazing tropical garden.

Of course, the location is just to die for. Absolutely a brilliant location. You are only about, I don’t know, not even five minutes in the car to Kuranda village which means you’ve got access to FoodWorks, post office, cafes, restaurants, doctor facilities, schools. It really is just a brilliant location. The property itself well, low maintenance tropical gardens. The lily pond, you have to be here. You have to listen to the sound of the water.
It really creates that sense of freedom, openness. It’s a happy, happy vibe. I’ve gotten a little bit feel of the place. This really feels like a happy living area. Of course, we’re south facing. This deck you really can be on all year round and you’re not going to have that direct sun. Just take three more seconds. Big deep breath, you just want to jump in. Of course, we have got that luxury resort swimming pool.
